First, remove the stock seats. Starting with driverside.
-
There are four 14mm bolts holding in the seat, two up front,
two in back. You'll need to remove the Plastic covers from the
back two bolts, and most likely, they will NOT fit the new seat
brackets that came with your race seats.
-
Start with the rear two bolts.
-
Recline the chair so it's upright and evenly weight-distributed,
so that when you remove the front bolts the damn thing won't
topple over and smack you.
-
Remove the front two bolts. After doing so, GENTLY lean the
whole chair onto it's back, and unclip all the connections to
it, There should be a SEAT BELT wire attached to the female-end
of the seat belt clippie thingie, and if you have seat warmers,
you should unhook that.
-
The easiest way of removing the seats from the car is to turn
so it makes an "L" toward the outside of the car and gently
swing it out.
-
Now, on the side where the seat belt receiver, there is a plastic
covering that you'll need to remove with a phillips screw driver.
TWO screws one in front, one in back. After that's off you'll
see a 14mm bolt attaching the seatbelt receiver to the seat.
It's a REALLY long bolt so rachet fast! GO! GO! GO!. ahah. ouch.
-
Now that's off, put the plastic part back on.
-
Assemble the seat bracket that came with your seat, in my case
it's from Corbeau, and if you're smart, you'll know which part
goes where. REemembering that the seat slider MUST face FORWARD..
DUH.. How else are you going to move your seat?
-
Most of the time, the aftermarket seat bracket will have holes
for the seat belt receiver, so screw it in. For me, i removed
all those thick spacers because the seat wouldn't fit otherwise
inside the car... but look and see.
-
attach the aftermarket bracket with your race seat and place
inside of car. Test fit and see if you like the height of it,
adjust accordingly if your bracket can.
-
If you have a race harness, (i.e. AutoPro 5 Point harness),
now is the best time to attach the belts.
-
Not every bracket is made the same. My suggestion: Attach the
front bolts in loosely, then try to put in the rears. Most of
the time, some idiot who welded it missed a hole or the hole
is 1mm too high, so please adjust accordingly, with use of a
hammer or bomb, whatever.. just be safe.
-
Make sure all four corners are securely tightened to the car,
THIS IS YOUR BUTT AT STAKE!!!
-
There you go. See if you can slide the seat freely. If not,
check how you assembled it.
-
Done. Now do the reverse for the passenger side if you were
lucky enough to get two seats.
