This mod is for the 95-96 Maximas ONLY. For instructions on rewiring the cornering lights on a 97-99 Maxima, Click here.

This mod was performed by Cheston Chiu. He deserves all credit for these instructions. However, he and Southeast Maxima Group are not liable for your actions. These instructions are more for a guide, not "true" instructions.

Tools Needed:

  • WD40
  • Soldering iron
  • Phillips & flat head screwdriver
  • Soldering wire

  1. Start by removing removing the cornering light. It's easy, just be patient. Using the phillips, remove the screws holding the top portion of the light to the car. Now, grasp the light with your hands and wiggle the lense FORWARD, toward the front of the car. POP out, the edge of the light that is attached to the fender of the car. The fender had a little flap that holds in the plastic part of the lense. It is vital for you to pop the side out first. Once that is done, from the top of the car, looking down, you'll see this small ball-n-socket joint where the lense is attached to the car. Spray some WD40 onto that socket, and wait a few moments for the oil to seep in. Now, using the flat headed screw driver, wiggle the head of the screwdriver inbetween the metal hook that's attached to the lense, and the socket joint that's attached to the car. (just wiggle it a bit until you're in. becareful not to chunk off any plastic of the lense or the car!!) Now Twist 1/4 to 1/2 a turn and the lense should pop out.

  2. Now that you have the lense out, unplug the connection from the car to the lense.

  3. Remove the bulb from the lense, and set it aside. be sure you don't step on it.

  4. You'll notice that the harness for the bulb has two connection points for the dual filament light bulb.

  5. With the flat head screw driver, carefully pop the spring-loaded connector piece OUT of the socket. You might wanna push up the wires from underneath. Push up until the black piece is completely out of the socket.

  6. Apply the soldering gun to both wires to release them from the connector. Now switch the two wires around. Make sure that you do not solder the same wire to the same connection point.

  7. Put enough soldering wire to make a solid connection. Carefully pull the black piece back into the socket, making sure the spring is still there.

  8. Put the bulb back in and replut the car to the lense. DON'T push the lense back in yet! just reconnect the wiring. Turn on the lights.. the corners should run much brighter!! Push the lense back in. and you're set!

  9. Repeat on other side!
